The Origin Story

I started The Travel Nurse Guide in 2018 after my first travel contract. I became a registered nurse in 2015 and transitioned into travel nursing two years later. As an ER nurse trying to figure out pay packages, housing, taxes, and contracts, my first year quickly turned into a hard lesson in how broken the information landscape was for travel nurses.

Because I didn't know how the industry really worked—how to negotiate, what to watch out for, or who to trust—I got taken advantage of. At the time, finding good information meant spending hours digging through noise just to find a few reliable answers. Everything I found was either outdated, biased by a recruiter, or just plain wrong.

I built the community I wished had existed because I did not want other nurses going through what I went through. I started sharing what I was learning as I found it—real, unbiased information about contracts, compensation, taxes, certifications, and everything else that actually matters when you are navigating this industry.

We built this platform because finding good, reliable information shouldn't mean spending hours digging through noise just to find a few honest answers. Today, our numbers speak for themselves: The Travel Nurse Guide has grown into a powerful, nationwide ecosystem of over 37,000 active members. Based entirely within the United States, our community is uniquely tuned to a highly targeted demographic that is 91.5% female.
